Calling All Angels: How a Website Vanished - and Came Back from the Beyond

The Art of Digital Miracles

Last week, after spending three weeks crafting a one-of-a-kind website—meticulously coding for a seamless user experience, tweaking every pixel, ensuring every transition felt intuitive - the unthinkable happened.

I inadvertently removed one key piece of code, and just like that… poof!  The entire website vanished.

Talk about panic! Was the full moon playing games with my patience? Had Mercury gone into stealth retrograde just to test me? I blinked at the empty screen, my stomach dropping, my hands hovering over the keyboard as if I could will the code to magically reappear.

And then came the gut check. Breathe. Don’t panic. You know how to fix this. But before I could take action, my inner dialogue had a meltdown that went something like this:

"Are you kidding me? I just built this entire thing from scratch!"

"Did I just erase weeks of work with one keystroke?"

"What kind of cruel joke is this, Universe?!"

Now, as most of my readers know, my "team" consists of me and my Angel Team, which includes some legendary tech pioneers like Steve Jobs (who, I imagine, shook his head in disappointment at my error before deciding to help me fix it).

I pushed away from my desk, frustrated but determined. It was time for an Angel Team Huddle.

Calling All Angels: Time to Convene

I closed my eyes, took a deep breath, and called in reinforcements. "Calling all Angels, it is time to convene!"

With my mind focused, my anxiety slipped away. I felt the calm presence of my Angel Team surrounding me, and in that moment, I shifted from frustration to gratitude. I didn’t need to panic—I needed to receive. I asked for direct intervention, for clarity, for the best possible outcome.

Ten minutes later—no exaggeration—I sat back down at my desk, opened the site builder, and there it was. Fully restored. Not a single line of code missing.

You might be thinking, "Coincidence?" Nope. That was Divine tech support at its finest.

Meanwhile, Tech Support Left Me Speechless

Oh, but wait—it gets better.

Before I walked away from my desk, I had also called the platform’s support team, hoping they had a backup copy I could revert to. When I explained my situation, I expected a "No problem! Here’s your most recent saved version!"

Instead, I got: "We don’t keep backup versions on our system."

Excuse me?! A major website platform… with no redundant backups?? I was speechless. Probably for the first time in my life. No safety net? No second chances? No "Undo" button?!

Oh, did I mention? I always provide redundant backups for my clients’ websites. Because, unlike that platform, I believe in business owners having control over their digital assets.

Lessons from a (Nearly) Vanished Website

This experience reaffirmed what I tell my clients every day:

  • If your website matters to your business, protect it. Back it up. Have a failsafe. Trust someone who ensures your digital presence is secure and recoverable.
  • When in doubt, call your Angels. Whether that means your higher guidance, a trusted expert, or an intuitive gut check—sometimes the answers come when you stop forcing and start allowing.
  • Choose web support that actually supports you. Not all website platforms are built with your best interest in mind. If they don’t offer backups, imagine what else they’re cutting corners on.

Final Thoughts: Always Have a Backup (and an Angel Team)

A deleted website isn’t just a glitch—it’s a wake-up call. If you’re relying on systems that don’t have your back, it’s time to rethink your approach. I build redundant, secure, high-performing websites because I never want my clients to feel the panic I felt last week.

If you want a website that’s not only strategically designed but also protected from disaster, let’s talk.

Because trust me - you don’t want to learn this lesson the hard way.

May you always Find Your North Star,

Beth
